114 Liberty St Monitoring 2 6... Penny, There are still a few loose threads re: the asbestos air sampling rates.
Page 2 (Equipment) The protocol calls for pumps with a flow rate capacity of 2 - 10 liters/min but bullet #6 on page 5 (NIOSH 7400 method) calls for a flow rate of 10 - 15 liters per min. On a related subject, the NIOSH 7400 method specifies a flow rate of .5 - 16 liters/min (and a minimum volume of 400 liters) but we want the large (3,600 liter) sample volumes, and therefore high flow rates (approx 10 liters/min), to attain the necessary detection limits for the TEM analysis.
Page 4 (Asbestos Air Monitoring) bullet # 2 The protocol calls for a flow rate not to exceed 3 liters/min. At that rate it would take 20 hours to get the desired sample volume of 3,600 liters.
