• Derelict Vehicle Update:

Thus far, all derelict and towed vehicles have been moved to 2 locations:

1. Pier 76 (between 34 & 35 Streets) 2. Market Slip (under FDR). (Total of 50 Vehicles at both sites)

EPA has given high priority to the cleaning of the 50 vehicles located at the above listed locations.

A central site has been identified for the cleaning of the vehicles still located inside the hotspot. All vehicles being taken out will have to be tunneled through Warren and West Streets where the National Guard using power washers will do gross decons of the vehicles. This includes vehicles transferring debris to the Fresh Kill Landfill and any other transfer stations as points of destination.

Update on Asbestos Air Monitoring Samples in the Boroughs: (see attachment).

DEP & Fire Department Hazmat: DEP’s Hazmat has been working with Fire Department Hazmat and has offered our services and assistance with any and all training and response needs. Moustafa Fawzy has been working closely with Captain Doherty and has assured FDNY’s Hazmat of our complete cooperation and assistance at this difficult time.
