07 TEMPORARY ENCLOSURES & WORK AREA PREPARATION
PART 1 - GENERAL (not applicable)
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 SHEET PLASTIC
A. Provide flame-resistant polyethylene film that conforms to requirements set forth by the National
Fire Protection Association Standard 701, IVfethods of Fire Tests for Flame Resistant Textiles
and Films. Provide largest size possible to minimize seams, 6.0 mils thick, frosted or black, as
indicated.
B. Provide translucent, nylon reinforced or woven polyethylene, laminated, flame resistant,
polyethylene film that conforms to requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection
Association Standard 701, Methods of Fire Tests for Flame Resistant Textiles and Films.
Provide largest size possible to minimize seams, 6.0 mils thick, frosted or black, as indicated.
2.02 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS;
A. Provide duct tape in 2” or 3" widths as indicated, with an adhesive which is formulated to stick
aggressively to sheet polyethylene, without damage to existing finishes, and capable of adhering
under both dry and wet conditions, including use of amended water.
B. Provide spray adhesive in aerosol cans that is specifically formulated to stick tenaciously to
sheet polyethylene.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 SEQUENCE OF WORK:
A. Prior to the start of any prep work, the Contractor shall employ skilled tradesmen for the
following work:
1. Disable all ventilating systems or other systems bringing air into, or exhausting air out of,
the Work Area. Disable system by disconnecting wires and/or removing circuit breakers,
by lockable switch or other positive means to ensure against accidental re-starting of
equipment.
2. Lockout power to the Work Area by switching off all breakers and removing them from
panels or by switching and locking entire panel. Label panel(s) with the following
notation: "DANGER CIRCUIT BEING WORKED ON".
3. Lock out power to circuits running through Work Area whenever possible by switching off
and removing breakers from panel. If circuits must remain live, the Owner shall notify
the Contractor in order that he maysecure a variance. Protect any conduit or wires to
