11 DECONTAMINATION UNITS

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS:

A. Refer to Section 06 Temporary Facilities for electrical requirements and requirements relative to connection of decontamination facilities to building systems such as water, sewer, and electrical.

1.02 DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

A. Provide Personnel and Equipment Decontamination facilities. Require that the Personnel Decontamination Units be the only means of ingress and egress for the Work Area. Require that ail materials exit the Work Area through the Equipment Decontamination Units.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:

A. Provide new or used materials and equipment that are undamaged and in serviceable condition. Provide only materials and equipment that are recognized as being suitable for the intended use, by compliance with appropriate standards.

B. Framing Materials and Doors: As required to construct temporary decontamination facilities and critical barriers. Lumber shall be high grade, new finished on side, and fire retardant.

C. Fire Retardant Clear Polyethylene sheeting that conforms to requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association Standard 701, Small Scale Fire Test for Flame-resistant Textiles and Films. Minimum thickness 6 mil; provide largest size possible to minimize seams.

D. Fire Retardant Black Plastic Sheeting, minimum thickness 6 mil: as required to obstruct view of abatement activities: provide largest size possible to minimize seams.

E. Tape: Provide tape which is of high quality with an adhesive which is formulated to aggressively stick to sheet polyethylene, as manufactured by Kendall Co., NASHUA Tape Products; or approved equal.

F. Spray Adhesive: Provide spray adhesive in aerosol cans which is specifically formulated to stick tenaciously to sheet polyeth^ene, as manufactured by 3M; NASHUA Tape Products; or approved or equivalent.

G. Shower Pan: Provide one piece stainless steel shower pan with a minimum 6" depth.

H. Shower Head and Controls: Provide a factory-made showerhead producing a spray of water that can be adjusted for spray size and intensity. Feed shower with water mixed from hot and cold supply lines. Arrange so that control ofwater temperature, flow rate, and shut off is from inside the shower.
