The Red Zone is the fenced in area from .Murray St. (on the north) to Rector (on the south), and from the Hudson River to
Broadway. West ,St. between Chambers and Murray is still frozen. Note: Batter)' Park City is not part or?the IZed Zone, as
pedestrians and businesses may enter with identificatjon.
Al! other agencies will provide lists ofpersotuiel that need access to OEM credentialing, officer who will approve it and
fax it to the credentisling checkpoint at W’esl and Chambers, Note; Some agencies may be issued bulk credentials (e.g.
The FDNh' staging officer at Chelsea Pier,?) so ‘dial they erm e.xpedite the entry of critical e.mployees. Those agencies will
be responsible for accotmtiug for those credentials.
The checkpoint at West and Canai will be in radio contact with the following areas to let veiucles seeking credsnrials
through.
The oni}- access to the Red Zone (pedestrian or vehicular) will he at the following locations:
• West St. and Chambers St. (for pedestrian and veliic’e access)
• Church St. and Chambers St. (for pedestrian and vehicle access)
• Murray St. and Broadway (for vehicle access’only)
• Trinity St. and Rector St. (for vehicle access only)
• West and Rector (for pedestrian and vehicle access)
Vehicles
Private vehicles are not permitted in the zone. Properly credentialed agency personnel with official agerxy vehicles may
be permitted to enter, pending traffic conditions.
Battery Pai k City
Residents at Battery Park City may enter veith two fc.tms of idemificaiioo.
• BPC North residents should enter at Chtanbers and West and walk down the foot path
• BPC South residents should enter at. Battery Park Pl and West,
Speciitl Needs
.Any marked Access-As-Ride (MTAN paratransit division) and,/or marked private ambulette ven or sedan, will be peraiitted
to enter any areas open to pedestrian re-ettiy even if private vehicular traffic is still restricted. These vehicles are
transporting persons with disabilities to/from locations open to them as members of the public. Horne Care Atte;rdants,
Home Health Aids, and Visitiirg Nurses witli clients in the .re-entry' areas are permitted to enter but may be asked for two
forms of identifications (one personal photo ID and agency ID).
Exemptions
The following exemptions should be noted:
• Employees of the Mercaxstile Exchange, Merrill Lynch and Brookfield Properties .may enter Batteiy Park City
North with residents and be permitted to walk down the footpath.
• At the. present time, Merrill Lynch employees may only enter dWTC and not 2\\TC.
♦ Broolrfield employees also may enter at {he Saner)' hmk Place/Wesl Street entrance to access 4 World Financial
Center,
• Employees of Soloman Smith Bemey and Citibanit will be pennitted to access Batter-' Park City North so that
