Volatile Organic Compounds Two personal samples were collected on charcoal tubes and scanned for volatile organic compounds. There were no VOCs detected. Levels of organic compound were below S micrograms. This is below 0.05 rag/M3 for each VOC. TW is well below any of the PEL’s for the organic compounds tested. Additional sampling has not been done since October.

Noise Noise exposure monitoring was conducted on twelve workers in the debris field. The following table summarizes die results.

The OSHA action level for noise exposure is 85 dBA over an 8-hour time weighted average. The permissible exposure limit is 90 dBA over an 8-hr TWA. Working at fixe screeners (on the conveyor belt), usually results in exposures around 85 dBA when averaged over the entire shift Workers all wear hearing protection when on the conveyors, and they should continue to wear them. Workers in the debris filed are exposed to levels well below the action level of 85 dBA • and are not required to wear hearing protection.
