HEPAvacs, Air Purifiers, and Air Conditioners

REIMBURSEMENT Revised April 19, 2002

1. Call FEMAto Register 1-800-621-3362

2. Tell them you want to be reimbursed for a HEPAvac, Air Purifier, and/or Air Conditioner or professional cleaning of existing air conditioner

3. FEMA will pass this information on to the New York State Individual & Family Grants (IFG) program

4. You can call the IFG information line 24 hours after registering with FEMA to see if they have processed the request IFG phone: 1-866-346-0348

5. The IFG will send you some forms within 2 weeks.

6. Fill out the forms and send 2 other documents:

a. Letter from insurance company denying coverage (when you call FEMA they will ask if you have insurance)

b. Original receipt of the item purchased

7. The IFG will send you a check.

REMEMBER: You have to purchase the item first. FEMA & IFG will not provide funding to purchase these items.

NOTE: Air Conditioners are reimbursable, but there may be a limit to how much each household will be reimbursed. Callers should check with the IFG about limits per household.
