Save Money on Your Energy Bill This Summer Have you heard about the “Keep Cool” room air conditioner bounty program that gives you $75 just for being a smart consumer? Here's how it works. Starting May 1, 2002, you can receive $75 if you live In New York State and follow these simple steps. In order to receive a $75 bounty, you must: ■ Purchase a new Energy SrAR^-iabeled room air conditioner or a through-the-wall room air conditioner with an EER of 9.0 or higher, from a participating retailer by September 20, 2002. Units that are Interchangeable between windows and wails are not eligible.

a Turn In an old worWng room air conditioner at an official drop-off site between May 1,2002, and September 20, 2002,

■ Complete and mail the application with the sates receipt.

■ Shift energy-Intensive tasks—laundry and dishwashing—to off-peak energy demand hours (mornings, nights and weekends).

■ Use a timer or programmable thermostat on your air conditioner. It’s an inexpensive investment that will keep you cool when it’s most Important and save you money by reducing use during peak demand periods.
