INITIAL AIRBORNE ASBESTOS TESTING DATA NOW AVAILABLE
Initial airborne asbestos testing results are ready and are available on this Web site. Note that results for individual residences are provided only to residents of the affected unit. Aggregate test results are provided here. Test results posted to date reflect analytical results received through October 25. During the initial stage of cleaning and testing, results will be updated on a weekly basis. Once data flow is established, this table will update automatically as test results are entered. Note that while EPA committed to making this information public as soon as it was available, these data reflect a tiny sample of the total number of residences to be tested. No broad conclusions should be drawn at this time. Data table.
DEADLINE FOR ASSISTANCE REQUESTS EXTENDED TO DECEMBER 28
EPA has extended the deadline for residents to request assistance a second time: to December 28, 2002. Residents living below Canal, Allen and Pike Streets may ask to have their homes cleaned and tested for airborne asbestos by certified asbestos contractors or they may ask fortesting alone under EPA's Lower Manhattan Dust Cleanup Program. EPA's Dust Cleanup Hotline is available to take requests for cleaning and/or testing from the residents of lower Manhattan. Hotline hours are M-F, 10;00am to 8:00pm and S-S, 10:00am to 5:00pm. You can also siqn up for cleaning and testing electronically.
