MOSOUiTO FINDINGS The positive West Nile findings announced today include the four mosquito pools on Staten Island: three from Grasmere (one pool was collected on August 8, one pool was collected on August 25, and one pool was collected on August 26), and one pool from Roseville (collected on August 25). All of these areas were sprayed subsequent to these fi ndings.

If outside during evening, nighttime, and dawn hours when mosquitoes are most active and likely to bite, children and adults should wear protective clothing such as long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and socks.

Consider the use of an insect repellant containing l0% or less DEET for children and no more than 30% DEBT for adults. USE DEET ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER'S DIRECTIONS.

Make sure that doors and windows have tight-fitting screens. Repair or replace screens that have tears or holes.

New York City residents are also reminded to continue throughout the mosquito season to eliminate areas of standing water around their homes.
