At a meeting in early July, the County surprised the City by stating that it would not the accumulated MOA funds for diversion and demanding that the City commit an spend any of million to the project ($25 million in diversion costs, plus $25+ million in additional $SO+ the host community). DEP has made it clear to the County that benefits for Peekskill as it will abide by Its commitments in the MOA, but will not commit additional funds to a diversion project (other than the savings from an avoided upgrade). The County has also recently expressed an interest in a project that would divert all 30 WW [Ps in the watershed. Due to the extreme position taken by the County, talks have stalled. From a water quality perspective, DEP believes that diversion of the Yorktown WWTP is desirable.

Mosquito Control Program , DEP has received delivery of all 100 Mosquito Magnets" contracted for with funding from the NYC Water Board. Ten Mosquito MagnetsTM have been loaned to temporarily placed the loaned magnets in the Rockaways. The NYC DOH: DOH has effectiveness of the magnets varies by area and wind condition, but certain locations, Broad Channel for instance, report very high capture rates. Additionally, DEP continues to utilize its own exterminatory, along with City-wide contractors for spraying and fogging at Departmental sites. Delaware County Fair

I attended the Delaware County Fair on Monday August 14, and participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony with Perry Shelton, President of the Board of Directors of the Catskill Watershed Corporation (C WC); and Dick Coombe and Alan White, Chair and Executive of the Watershed Agricultural Council, DEP shared an exhibit Director, respectively, booth with those two organizations. We toured the fair grounds and visited with some farmers and 4-H youth in the livestock pavilions. Newtown Creek WP.C.P. Contract NC-30G has been found to be non -responsive The bid submitted by John P. Piccone, Inc. / James M. McCullagh Co., Inc. (Joint Venture) the Newtown Creek W,P.C.P. Contract NC-300 has been found to be non-responsive by for our own Agency Chief Contracting Officer. Pursuant to P.P.B. Rules, the Piccone / McCullagh Joint Venture has appealed this determination to the DEP Agency Head.
