DELTA AIR LINES & MAJOR CONVENTIONS ACT TO SPUR NEW YORK CITY TOURISM

Carrier Named the Official Airline of NYC & Company; Provides 10,000 Free Tickets to Spur Tourism Major Organizations Relocate Conventions to New York City in Gesture of Support

NEW YORK, Oct. 2, 2001 — New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today joined Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) Chairman and CEO Leo F. Mullin, American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) President Richard Copland and tourism chief Cristyne L. Nicholas to announce immediate initiatives to reinvigorate the New York City tourism and meeting industries.

Surrounded by tourism and convention industry leaders, Chairman Mullin unveiled dramatic new Delta initiatives — including providing 10,000 free inbound tickets to New York City — to stimulate New York City's tourism industry. Mr. Copland announced that the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) is joining four other significant meetings in relocating from previously scheduled cities to New York while numerous other organizations vowed to move forward with conventions representing a total of $185.7 million in immediate economic impact to the city. And Ms. Nicholas announced that Delta Air Lines and NYC & Company, New York City's official tourism marketing organization, just signed a three-year partnership agreement to grow New York City's visitor market.

"I want to thank Chairman Mullin and Delta Air Lines for these New York City marketing initiatives which are welcome, timely and significant. Delta's commitment will allow many thousands of visitors to discover and rediscover the greatest city on earth at a time when every visit counts more than ever. Delta plays an important role in bringing people to New York and their partnership with NYC & Company will certainly add to the growing momentum of our tourism
