industry," said Mayor Giuliani. "I also want to acknowledge and thank the major organizations present today for putting New York City first and relocating and holding their meetings and conventions here. We've never appreciated their business more and it's never been so important to welcome them to New York," he said.

Effective immediately, Delta and NYC & Company will work together to promote travel to New York City, one of the world's premier travel destinations and one that is serviced by the carriers extensive domestic and international service. Delta serves New York through all six of its commercial airports, including the three major airports, JFK, LaGuardia and Newark, with 202 daily departures to 71 cities in 13 countries on Delta, Delta Express, Delta Shuttle, Delta Connection carriers and Delta's worldwide partners.

To promote travel to New York and celebrate the new partnership, Delta announced three key initiatives:

"Delta Loves NYC," a nationwide giveaway designed to bring 10,000 visitors to New York City during the next six months. The giveaway will be announced across the country beginning in October through a variety of promotional channels, including radio, Delta's Web site (delta.com), and SkyMiles partnership initiatives. In addition to complimentary airline tickets to New York City, select travel packages also will include accommodations provided by Crowne Plaza and Inter-Continental hotels in New York City and access to some of the best New York City tourist destinations, such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Delta will give away 1,000 of the 10,000 complimentary tickets in Boston and Washington, D.C., for travel to New York City on the Delta Shuttle. A reduced mileage award, which allows SkyMiles members traveling through Nov. 15, 2001 to redeem 15,000 miles for a Coach/Economy Class SkySaver Award or 30,000 miles for a First Class SkySaver Award for travel within or between the continental United States, Alaska and Canada. Normally, SkyMiles members redeem 25,000 miles for a Coach Class SkySaver Award and 40,000 miles for a First Class SkySaver Award for travel to these destinations. Delta also is waiving the award redemption service charges normally applied to award tickets issued within seven days of travel for members traveling to or from New York's JFK, LaGuardia or Newark airports in an effort to encourage travel as soon as possible. This special fee waiver is valid for award tickets issued through Oct. 14, 2001. SkySaver Awards are subject to capacity controls pending seat availability, and all standard Delta SkyMiles program rules and conditions apply. Donations for relief efforts. To assist with relief efforts, Delta has donated 2 million miles each to the American Red Cross, Care, United Way and United Way International, for a total of 8 million miles. To date, SkyMiles members also have donated an additional 16 million miles, which translates into almost 1,000 tickets to help with relief efforts.
