Dear Mr. Hoey:
From September 19`h through October 1s`, 2001, Consulting and Testing Services, Inc. (CTSI) performed various environmental sampling procedures to evaluate the air quality of the above referenced premises after the World Trade Center incident.
Surface & air samples were collected from various areas. A certified environmental contractor utilizing appropriate techniques and engineering controls decontaminated occupied and common area surfaces affected by the dust. During the decontamination process an independent environmental consultant was retained to perform air sampling.
All air filters inside the air-handling units were disposed of and replaced. Based upon the satisfactory results from the observed decontamination process and clearance sampling performed, the building was given clearance to open for normal occupancy.
Based on our assessment of the air sample results the building air quality is acceptable. CTSI recommends that the air filters be inspected on a daily basis and if necessary, replaced during the outside clean up process. Furthermore, CTSI highly recommend the use of HEPA filtered vacuums for building cleaning. Upon receipt of the original laboratory certificates of analysis, a full project report will be generated.
