system took in the dust cloud from the World Trade Center collapse), covering them up with flimsy paper/plastic material and duct taped to the wall that fell off within hours. Then management released a disturbing memo to several residents stating that they would, if need be, actually drill through the locks, if they were unable to access the vent duct system in their apartments for their cleanup. Residents had seen examples of management complete disregard for their concerns and felt that their apartments could be further contaminated. The residents, having no choice, went to file the results of the asbestos test of the ventilation grille with various local, state, and federal agencies. The test results unfortunately confirmed their worst fears with asbestos readings of over 500 times the recommended limit. WNBC TV Newscast came to the building to publicize the situation and we are most grateful for the support and understanding of our NYC Council members, especially Ms. Katherine Freed and the NYC Department of Health staff who did a terrific job of safeguarding the public's health and well-being. The following points need to be made:

1. Channel 4 said that Tribeca Tower was evacuated on Sept. 11. This is not accurate as some tenants as well as building employees but NO management remained in the building.

2. Management states that releasing information was "irresponsible". That would be funny if it was not so tragic.

3. What was not mentioned on the news was the amount of people getting sick in the building and the number of people who moved (either temporary or permanent).

4. Management continues to refuse to allow most tenants to break their lease or require them to sign a waiver in the management's best interest.

5. Doesn't management realize they are shooting themselves in the foot? They should be bending over backwards to assuage our fears since the tenants are getting fed up with obstinance regarding the contamination and moving out. Management should do everything in its power to keeps it tenants here since they will have severe problems repopulating Tribeca Tower.

A. Who wants to live next to a mass grave, still smoking and reeking the whole entire neighborhood.

B. The attendant noise and overwhelming construction atmosphere due to the rebuilding of that area.

C. Fewer people will want to live down in Tribeca since downtown office space and other amenities have noticeably shrunk with the demise of the WTC.

D. The New York City economy is shrinking and fewer people can afford to live here.
