E. Notify the Structural Engineer to inspect exposed steel to determine if shelf angle can

• F. be repaired or must be reinforced or replaced.

If the Structural engineer determines that the shelf angle must be replaced due to the severity of corrosion damage, install new steel members to match the existing in original size and physical dimension, unless otherwise directed by the Structural Engineer. Replacement steel Is to conform to Section 05500.

G. If no steel Is to be replaced, apply te~w coats of protective coating for exposed steel surfaces: 1. Carbomastic 15, Low Odor, by Carboline.

H. Install new flashing and stainless steel termination bar. Flashing to extend at least 8° up the wall and be reinforced as recommended at protruding anchor bolts.

I. Install new compressible filler beneath shelf angle.

J. Reinstall face brick with drainage material behind weepholes to keep loose mortar from clogging weep holes.

K. Install backer-rod and sealant as per Section 07900.

3.6 MASONRY UNIT PATCHING

• A. Patch the following masonry units:

1. Units indicated to be patched. 2. Units with holes. 3. Units with chipped edges or comers. 4. Units with small areas of deep deterioration.

B. Remove and replace existing patches, unless otherwise indicated or approved by Architect.

C. Patching Bricks:

1. Remove loose material from brick surface. Remove additional material so patch will not have feathered edges and will be at least 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick, but not less than recommended by patching compound manufacturer. 2. Mask or remove surrounding mortar joints if patch will extend to edge of brick. 3. Mix patching compound in individual batches to match each unit being patched. Combine one or more colors of patching compound, as needed, to produce exact match. 4. Rinse surface to be patched and leave damp, but without standing water. 5. Brush-coat surfaces with slurry coat of patching compound according to manufacturer's written instructions. 6. Place patching compound in layers as recommended by patching compound manufacturer, but not less than 1/4 inch (6 mm) or more than 2 inches (50 mm) thick. Roughen surface of each layer to provide a key for next layer.
