SECTION 04901 - CLAY MASONRY RESTORATION AND CLEANING
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and
Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes restoration and cleaning of brick as follows:
1. Reanchoring brick veneers at concrete pilasters to remain as indicated on
Contract Drawings.
2. Replacing/restoring damaged shelf angles and installing flashing and weepholes
at shelf angles.
3. Repairing clay masonry, including replacing damaged units.
4. Repointing mortar joints.
5. Removing plant growth.
6. Cleaning exposed clay masonry surfaces.
B. Related Sections include the following:

1. Division 4, Section uUnit Masonry" for masonry accessories not specified herein
2. Division 5, Section "Misc. Metals" for metal anchors and coatings
3. Division 7 Section "Joint Sealants" for sealing joints in restored clay masonry.
C. Quantities and Allowances:
1. Architect provided quantity take-offs are for reference only; Restoration
Contractor is responsible for verifying all quantities prior to Bid.
a. Re-anchoring all brick veneer at pilasters to remain
b. Installing flashing and weeps at all shelf angles at pilasters to remain
c. Cleaning all exposed brick at pilasters to remain.
2. Allowances for bid purposes:
a. 5% replacement of damaged bricks (at pilasters to remain)
b. 20% repointing of mortar joints (at pilasters to remain)
D. Unit Prices: Provide unit prices for the following:
1. Unit prices apply to authorized work covered by quantity allowances.
2. Unit prices apply to additions to and deletions from Work as authorized by
Change Orders.
a. Price per linear foot for replacing galvanized shelf angles (anchorage and
steel angle only)
