The result of this emergency project is from the terrorist attack on September
the demolition and collapse of the World Trade Center located 2 blocks away from these premises.
Asbestos air sampling, bulk samples and dust wipes were taken from this location, which has
shown the presence of Asbestos in various tenant apartments, hallways and certain rooms inside
tenants apartments located at 65 Nassau Street, NYC, NY.
On this project there is approximately 2,500 square feet of asbestos containing dust from the twin
towers, contaminating various apartments located at 65 Nassau Street, NYC, NY. We shall comply
with all applicable NYC Title 15, Chapter 1 sections regarding emergency asbestos clean up
procedures. We shall begin by erecting temporary pop up decontamination unit located in a clean
area and shall be accessed by all handlers. After the Decontamination unit is set up and
operational, an air lock shall be placed at the entrance of the contaminated area to be cleaned, then
the Asbestos handlers shall install 2 HEPA micro traps on the furthest side away from the Decon
to provide negative air as so not to contaminate the clean areas outside the contaminated work
area. After the micro traps are tested and are operational, all remaining controls shall be installed.
Once controls are in place, the asbestos abatement handlers shall then begin vacuuming and / or
wet wiping all surfaces inside the apartment including all windows, walls floors, furniture and
various items throughout the entire apartment areas. All personal belongings that cannot be
cleaned via vacuuming and / or wet wiping shall be doubled bagged and considered as Asbestos
containing debris and disposed of as such. Any contaminated personal clothing shall be sent to
either a professional cleaner or shall be machine washed a minimum of 3 times before being
turned over to the owner of such items. All HVAC ducts leading to the contaminated apartment
shall be plasticized in accordance with NYC Title 15, Chapter 1. All water collected from this
process and the Decontamination unit shall be collected and pumped thru a .05-micron industry
standard filter. After the water has been processed we shall dispose of the water as per NYC Title
15 Chapter 1.
