From: Lutchmedial, Carlstien Sent: Friday, August 30, 2002 8:33 AM To: Theodorellys, Penny; Radhakrishnan, Krish Cc: Rammohan, Ramasubbu; Plumptre, Alphonso Subject: 55 Liberty St At the request of building reps and board of 55 Liberty St., Trio and myself met with them to address their concerns of the following: 1. why only a portion of the building is being cleaned. 2. the use of chemicals on the terra cotta facade. 3. the hanging of scaffolding on the building. 4. the work schedule of the contractor. 5. a contractor was hired to clean the window ledges some time ago. however, this work was done from the inside. As a result, all the exterior ledges may not have been cleaned properly. 6. the building is land marked 7. some tenants on the upper floors have said there is debris on their ledges. 8. request for insurance of contractors. Based on these concerns, they were informed that, 1. only a portion of the building is being cleaned because DEP only observed WTC debris at the lower levels (13 and under). Though we did not get to each apartment on the upper floors. The ones we got too were clean. Our plan is that after the scaffolds are hung, a final determination would be by an inspection from DEP and the contractor by going down the sides of the building carefully. 2. Tenants who have observed debris on their ledges should notify management, who would then prepare a list for DEP. We would address those by doing another survey of the apartments ledges. 3. no chemicals would be used on the exterior. 4. work would be done 8 am to 8 pm. However, on days like Sundays, if there privacy concerns we would address them separately. 5. we would like the work to be expedited as quickly as possible, cooperation from all is paramount. 6. care would be taken when the scaffolds are hung to protect the facade. 7. the contractor would provide their insurance. Ms Lynn O'Caining Board Manager agreed with our proposal and now has to pass this info at the next general meeting (Sept 3, 2002) to get the Go ahead.
