MEMORANDUM November 23, 2001

TO: Michael Burton, PE Executive Deputy Commissioner

FROM: Robert C. Adams, CIH, CSP Director EHS Services

RE: Air Sampling Report - AMEX 30*^ Floor

Warren & Panzer Engineers has been collecting air samples on the 30* floor of the American Express Building. Attached are reports covering sampling from Monday, November 19 through Wednesday November 21, 2001. The samples were submitted to ATC Associates analytical laboratory for analysis by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), an analytical method that specifically identifies the presence of asbestos fibers. The results of these three rounds of sampling are attached. No results exceeded the EPA limit for building occupancy of 70 structures per square millimeter is/mm ). Only 3 of 23 samples showed any presence of asbestos fibers, and each of those was a single fiber. Again, these samples were well below EPA limits and are probably background levels and represent no cause for concern.

Contact me if you have any questions.
