Dear Mr. Orlan;

ATC Associates Inc. (ATC) is pleased to provide this report of the results of wipe samples for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) collected on June 10, 17 and 24, 2002, at the referenced location. The New York City Board of Education (BOE) requested this sample to evaluate possible contamination from PCBs in the school building according to the recommendation of Environ Corp., the consultant to the parents association.

Scope of Work

The samples for PCBs were collected using sterile gauze pads and hexane as a solvent. The solvent was provided and samples were analyzed by PSC Analytical Services, Inc. (PSC), an American Industrial Hygiene Association-accredited laboratory in Reading, PA. The PCB analysis was performed using EPA Method 8082B.

Tenzin Namgyal and Wagdi Abdelshahid, Industrial Hygienists of ATC’s New York City office, collected the samples consistent with generally accepted industrial hygiene practices. There w ere inherent limitations created by constraints of time, operational and work practice varability, variations in contaminant concentrations, and sampling and analytical accuracy. The results of the sampling represent conditions found on the dates the samples were collected.

Results

On each day, ATC submitted one sample for PCBs (plus one blank) to PSC for analysis. Copies of the laboratoiy reports are provided in the Attachment. The samples were taken from an area specified by the parents association consultant.
