Recovery Physical Therapy Air Monitoring for Asbaetos, Respirable Oust, and Priority PoUntaat Metals . gaaatowit Tliarapy Rooin, 79 Maiden Lana, W /towKsd 8inO«R««aiB/Cm7.

in accordance with the sampling protocol a OiMiSui yW^ was utilized during sample collection. The concept of the cyclone 4s to sepamte respirable dust frorr. ^particulate matter of 10 micron pore size or greater. With the air flow rate LFM, the cyclone inlet draws in the air and z ; i'; spiral actioo or vortex, which sepmwa .the Isrgcr particles from the lighter ones. The cyclone’s pot accepts the heavier particles while tlje ll^tej jSridefes (less than 10 microns) are drawn up and .^.^pacted onto the filter cassette. ^z’<O' z. J i; the umple date is presented as a ration of weight) per volume of air collected. The sample result* indicated a Total Respirable bust (or PNOC) concentration of 0.0173 m^m^' which is well below the OSHA Permissible Exposure Linut (PEL) of 5 mg/m\ These results can be found in AppadixB. Metals Sampling was performed to determine levels of priority pollutant ntetaJs in the ambient air. One (I) sample was collected and analysed according to EPA1987 Methods 200,7 and 245.1 for priority pollutant metals analysis. Th* sample was collected on a 0,S-pm pore size mixed cellulose ester filter using a 37 millimeter cassette. A low flow volume personal air pump weas used to draw air through the filter media. flow rates were measured with a Mini Buck calibrator model M-30, before and after sampling to ensure an accurate volumetric reading. The sample was collected closed face m accordance with the sampling protocol. The priority pollutant meals tested include Antimony, Aisenic, Beryllium, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Lead, Mercury, Nickel, Selenium, Silver, Thallium, and Zinc. The sample results detected no airborne concentrations of priority pollutant metals with the exception of chromium. The sample result indicated a total ohronuum concentration of 0.619 pg/m’’ which is well below the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 500 gg water soluble chromium (HI) compounds per cubic meter of workplace ah (500 1,000 ug/m^ to metallic cfaromiuni (0) and insoluble chromium compounds, and 52 ixg/m’ for chromium (VI) compounds to 8-hour work shifts and 40-hour work weeks. These results can be found in Appendix C- Summary In coRclusiofl, san^k data obtained for aabestoa, re^imblc fraction dusts, wad priority pollutant metals, are well below applicable exposure standards for these substances, If you have any questions or need further clarification on air sampling methodology, please call me.
