Rc: Wipe Samples for Polychlorinated Biphenyls P. S. 234M ATC Project No. 15-19125-0279

Dear Mr. Orlan:

ATC Associates Inc. (ATC) is pleased to provide this report of the results of the wipe ! samples for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) collected on August 20, 2002, at the referenced location. The New York City Department of Education (DOE) requested these samples to verify that acceptable indoor air quality is being maintained.

Scope of Work

The samples were collected using sterile gauze pads and hexane as a solvent. The solvent was provided and samples were analyzed by PSC Analytical Services, Inc. (PSG), an j American Industrial Hygiene Association-accredited laboratory in Reading, PA. The PCB analysis was performed using EPA Method 8082B.

Tenzin Namgyal, Industrial Hygienist of ATC’s New York City office, collected the samples consistent with generally accepted industrial hygiene practices. There were 1 inherent limitations created by constraints of time, operational and work practice variability, variations in contaminant concentrations, and sampling and analytical accuracy. The results of the sampling represent conditions found on the date the samples were collected.

Results

ATC submitted two (2) wipe samples for PCBs to PSC for analysis. A copy of the analytical laboratory report is provided in the Attachment.

The two floor areas sampled were the Lobby Floor -East and the 1“ Floor hallway West. The surface area for each sample was 100 square centimeters (100cm').
