Gentlemen:
This is to confirm that we have received a copy of the NYDEP letter dated February 20, 2002 regarding the required analysis for the dewatering and sumping discharges at the World Trade Center site. Beginning with the sample that was collected on March 1, we have instructed the testing laboratory to include the analysis for PCB's chlorodifluoromethane, dioxins and asbestos.
As we discussed with you, we have instructed the laboratory to analyze for PCB’s using EPA method 608 in accordance with the DEP letter. However, we have been notified by the lab (Severn Trent Labs) that the results for this method are only reported in parts per billion (ppb). Please advise if you wish us to change from the method 608 analysis which we have instructed STL to use.
Also, we have advised STL to perform the required analysis for chlorodifluoromethane, a substance which has been detected in screening the samples. The lab is not aware of a test for chlorofluoromethane. See the attached letter from Severn Trent Services dated 3/6/02.
In accordance with your direction at our meeting of March 5''’, we will collect water samples for analysis once per week until we receive further direction from you.
Very truly yours, MORETRENCH AMERICAN CORPORATION
