Re: Gravimetric Respirable Particulate Sampling P. S. 234M ATC Project No. 15-19125-0279

Dear Mr. Orlan;

ATC Associates Inc. (ATC) is pleased to provide this report of respirable particulate sampling conducted March 27, April 3 and 10, 2002, in the referenced school building. The New York City Board of Education (BOE) requested this monitoring to determine if acceptable indoor air quality (lAQ) is being maintained.

SCOPE OF WORK

ATC collected samples of respirable particulates (PM^ j) for 24 hours for gravimetric analysis using a Micro Environmental Monitor® (MEM®), manufactured by SKC, Inc. The volume of each sample was 14,400 liters of air. The samples were collected on pre weighed PVC filters supplied and analyzed by PSC Analytical Services, Inc., an American Industrial Hygiene Association-accredited laboratory in Reading, PA.

The assessment was performed consistent with generally accepted indoor air quality assessment practices. As with all such assessments, there were inherent limitations created by constraints of time, operational and work practice variability, variations in indoor air quality parameters and sampling and analytical accuracy.

Wagdi Abdelshahid and Tenzin Namgyal, Industrial Hygienists of ATC’s New York City office, conducted the sampling.

The results of the sampling represent conditions found on the dates the samples were collected. The information presented in this report should be used by the BOE as a guide to assess the need for further improvements in current indoor air quality control activities.
