We submit the following information and comments regardi; the expected noise level outside the T'' floor emergency generator room in res; .nse to the March 4, 1998 letter from Silverstein Properties..
Noise Control Treatments
The partitions enclosing the generator room shall ct , .sist of 3 5/8" metal studs with three (3) layers of 5/8" gypboaid on eac i side and full depth insulation within the smd cavities, all extending slab i> slab.
The generators shall be mounted on spring vibratio isolators selected to / provide minimum 2” static deflection
High efficiency hospital grade mufflers shall be provi led on each generator.
Noise Transmission Analysis
Based on measured generator noise levels at other ini lallations with similar sized generators, the noise level inside the generator rt: m when both engines operate will be about 115 dB A
The generator room partition constniction described i ove has an acoustical rating of STC-60 and is thus capable, m simplified erms, of stopping ox containing roughly 60 dBA of noise.
Therefore, with a source level of 115 dBA insid ; the room the noise transmitted to surrounding spaces will be reduced to > 5 dBA (115 minus 60 equals 55), or an equivalent Noise Criteria level of? C-SO to 55.
