J. Patrick Carpenter, PE Senior Engineering Principal
TKLP
Relevant Exxon Corporation, Florham Park, NJ
Experience/ A 265,000 SF computer center containing 28,000 SF of computer operations area with raised
Qualifications floors throughout. Two utility feeds, 60-HZ and 415-HZ UPS systems, and three 1070- KW
(confd.) emergency generators provide backup for the critical electrical systems.
Cargill, Inc., Minnetonka, MN
A 560,000 SF office building, which serves as the administrative headquarters. The four-
story building contains a computer center and dining facilities. Phase II of the project added
160,000 SF to the original building and provides offices and a 300-seat expansion of the
cafeteria.
Alco Standard Corporation, Valley Forge, PA
Master plan and design of new corporate headquarters planned for development in three
phases: Phase I contains 110,000 SF, Phase II contains 50,000 SF, and Phase III contains
100,000 SF. There is also a 30,000 SF data processing center as part of the facility.
National Security Agency, Ft. George Meade, MD
Energy management services for a 2.5 million SF multi-building energy-intensive govern
mental complex which included many computer and laboratory facilities. Mr. Carpenter's
responsibilities as project engineer included coordination and management of field survey,
computer simulation, engineering evaluation and retrofit recommendations (based upon
life-cycle cost analysis) to reduce energy consumption.
Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA
This two-phased project included the following components:
• The Bennett S. LeBow Engineering Center — A/E design, documentation, and construc
tion administration for this five-story, 68,000 SF engineering laboratory building which
includes CADD and other computer facilities, instructional and office spaces, and vari
ous support systems.
• Center for Automation Technology — A/E design, documentation, and construction ad
ministration for a five-story, 58,000 SF facility. Its integrated automation laboratory suite
includes a manufacturing test cell; biochemical engineering, semiconductor engineering,
and catalysis and reaction engineering laboratories; classrooms; and offices.
