4. The standard age for strength test shall be 28 days and the strength of such test shall be the average of the breaking strengths of the three cylinders comprising the set. The 7 day tests will be used for purposes of job control once an age-strength relationship has been established by the testing laboratory for the materials and pro­ portions used. 5. The average of any three consecutive 25 day strength tests representing each class of concrete shall be equal to or greater than the specified strength and not more than 10 percent shall have an average value less than 90 percent of the spe­ cified strength. 6. Any concrete which fails to meet the minirr.um strength requirements of these Specifications shall be considered rejected pending verification of the adequacy of the material by other means. D. CONCRETE HANDLING & PLACING 1. Concrete for piping and piping encasement shall be placed in the dry. Before placing any concrete all equipment for mixing and transporting the concrete shall be clean, all debris and ice shall be removed from the spaces to be occupied by the concrete and the reinforcement thoroughly cleaned of ice of other deleterious coatings. Ail accumu­ lated water shall be removed from the place of deposit before concrete is placed. E. REINFORCEMENT 1. The Subcontractor shall prepare and submit shop drawings of bar reinforcement for the Contractor’s approval in accordance with the requirements of the General Conditions. Such drawings shall sho;;: the element identification, bending diagrams, cutting lists, inserts, spacers, etc. and shall completely demonstrate the location, sizer spac­ ing, length and bending of the bar reinforcement. Shop drawings for concrete reinforcement shall be prepared in accordance with the American Concrete Institute "Manual of Standard Practice: cor De­ tailing Reinforced Concrete Structures", ACI-3i5- 80.
