The Subcontractor's attention is drawn to the fact that all piles in the test pile program are driven by use of single acting hammers. If the Subcontractor proposes to use double acting hammers of equivalent energy,.it shall be its res ponsibility and at its cost to develop and demonstrate a revised pile driving criteria by first driving to a proposed minimum resistance- using the double-acting hammer and then testing their resitance by driving the same piles to the specified minimum resistance, with the specified single acting hammer. A minimum of three test drives for each pile size is required and additional test drives may be required, until criteria are developed which meet all requirements and approvals of the New York City Building Department and ■ Foundation Engineer. 3. The hammer shall be in good operating condtition at all times during driving. 4.
