The City of New York Office of the Mayor New York, N.Y. 10007

MEMORANDUM

To: Agency Head Distribution List (See Attachment)

From: Edward Skyler, Deputy Mayor for Administration Linda Gibbs, Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services

Date: September 26, 2006

Re; WTC Mayoral Review Panel

As you know, on Tuesday, September 5, the Mayor announced several new initiatives to enhance the City’s response to World Trade Center health-related issues. As part of these efforts, the Mayor has asked us to convene a Mayoral Review Panel on WTC Health Issues that includes all City agencies serving or representing those individuals whose health may have been affected by the events of September 11, 2001, and that will;

(1) Ensure WTC-related illness policies are coordinated across City agencies;

(n) Identify mechanisms through which emerging issues can be quickly elevated and shared across agency lines;

(iii) Review the availability and sufficiency of resources aimed at assisting those who have been affected by WTC-related illness; and

(iv) Recommend strategies to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of those resources.

We have already begun to work with DOHMH, FDNY, NYPD, DDC and other agencies with employees or other constituencies that were exposed to the WTC site. To ensure that all affected or potentially affected agencies take part in the panel, we ask that you carefully review the attached survey and (i) submit any relevant information or (ii) indicate that your agency need not participate on the panel. Please submit responses (or indications that no response is necessary) to Cas Holloway (available at (212) 788-8235 or [email protected] ) by Monday, October 2nd.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and input in this important work. If you have any questions or comments about the panel, don’t hesitate to reach out to either of us directly (Ed is at (212) 788-3191; Linda is at (212) 788-2950).
