These areas include rector Place Park and playground, various streets and sidewalks, and the promenade. Problems cleaning playground at rector street because of clogged drain have been working hard to get it resolved with no avail. North Battery Park City work has begun on the playground area. This includes removal of sand from a large area. Cleanup also continues on north cove area near the marina. Working on plan to have roof tops of buildings clean to reduce emissions and prevent recontamination of abated areas. Work will entail extensive rigging and vac trucks. Will discuss plan of action and whether this is something we want to undertake with EPA. Timeframe to complete will be extensive. Dependent on EPA resources. Greenwich to Bdway between chambers and Murray Cleanup work continues to be conducted in the area from Greenwich to Broadway, between Chambers and Murray. We anticipate work to be completed on 9/26/01. Air monitoring was conducted in this area in an effort to move the site perimeter from chambers to murray. Four air samples were taken in the proposed area each day. These results were as follows: 9/23/01 Park Place and church .01 fibers/cc Park Place and Greenwich .014 fibers/cc Murray and Church .007 fibers/cc Murray and Greenwich < .01 fibers/cc 9/24/01 Park Place and church .007 fibers/cc Park Place and Greenwich .012 fibers/cc Murray and Church .017 fibers/cc Murray and Greenwich .009 fibers/cc 9/25/01 Park Place and church .009 fibers/cc Park Place and Greenwich .009 fibers/cc Murray and Church .007 fibers/cc Murray and Greenwich <.007 fibers/cc 9/26/01 results expected at 0900 hours Data for the last two consecutive days indicate that air monitoring results have DOH We have still not seen the vehicle advisory as promised from DOH. We feel this is a very critical issues and should have been conveyed. First Response No major haz mat first response request from the FDNY forward command post. The daily ground zero monitoring for dangerous gases was negative. Future Progress DERTA has surveyed other areas inside the perimeter in an effort to target potential sites to be opened. DERTA does not believe that it will be possible to clear any other areas because of the close proximity to ground zero. Major work at ground zero would have to be completed before we could reassess the feasibility of opening another area.
