A. Scope of Work

Ambient Air Sampling

1. Continuous sampling for 8 hours at street level. The exact location will be identified by the NYCDEP on the first day of sampling. Periodic examination of filters to ensure filter does not become overloaded. (Flow rate at 2.5 liters/minute; Minimum sampling volume 1200 liters.)

2. Sample analysis utilizing PCM NIOSH 7400 method. Any levels found to be above 0.01 f/cc must be read utilizing AHERA method.

3. Sampling at the above locations to commence on October 15, 2001.

4. The PCM results shall be faxed to the NYC DEP (fax 718 595- 3744) by 9:00 a.m. the day after sample collection. The TEM results shall be faxed to the NYCDEP within 12 hours of the PCM results.

5. Sampling shall continue daily until notification by the NYC DEP to terminate sampling.

B. Time Frame

At this it is estimated that the duration for the air monitoring is about one month.

C. Cost

The cost estimate for one month operation is about $200,000.

D. Justification

The air monitoring request came from OEM and was discussed with our Commissioner who approved this.
