Dear Ms.
On October 15, 2001, I.H, Consultants, Inc. (IHC) conducted a walk through of your apartment (at your request) in order to investigate Environmental Health issues in your apartment as a result of WTC collapse on September 11, 2001.
During our walk through, settled dust was observed throughout the apartment and in the balcony. Please refer to the attached photographs. Eastern side of the apartment sustained the maximum damage. Dust had settled on all of the household articles such as carpets, chairs, beds, books, toys and such. Oust was noticeable on all surfaces but mostly on horizontal surfaces. Dust deposits on window exteriors were considerable (approx. 1-2 inches).
An acrid smell was noticeable throughout the apartment.
Window blinds were found to be very dusty.
Samples of settied dust were cotlected from locations with considerable dust deposits and analyzed for asbestos and lead content. A sample of a fibrous bundle (suspected to be asbestos) was collected from dresser in s room. Please refer to the attached analytical data.
The following is a discussion of our observations, analysis results and recommendations.
Asbestos Asbestos was discovered in dust sample collected from Study Desk in room. Concentration of asbestos (chrysotile) in this sample was 2%. Other components of this sample were glass, cellulose and non-fibrous materials.
