U ■ Additional air quality testing was performed on various floors on October 13, 2001. PCM clearance air sample results were obtained, with no sample concentration exceeding 0.01 f/cc.

Specific air sample locations and results can be seen in the Air Sample Result Listings in table 4.1. U • 4.3 Bulk Sample Analysis

Bulk samples were collected and analyzed prior to and at the commencement of the cleanup of various areas of the hotel. Sampling was conducted by a qualified industrial hygienist. U Bulk debris samples were collected from the rooftops on various levels of the facility. Each of these samples was identified to contain asbestos in concentrations less than 1% by PLM analysis. Sampling was also conducted on the windowsills of rooms on various floors throughout the building. One sample on the windowsill of room 3015 on the 30th floor was found to contain asbestos in concentrations less than . 1% by PLM analysis. No asbestos was detected in the other samples taken on floors 1, 4, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 and 25.

Numerous bulk samples were also collected from the first floor flower and gift shops. Each of these ■ samples was found to contain less than 1% asbestos by PLM analysis.

4.4 Summary of Abatement Activities

Prior to the commencement of clean-up activities the asbestos abatement contractor erected critical barriers to stop the flow of air to and from Roy's Restaurant, the adjoining kitchen and adjacent lobby. Air filtration devices were set up within this containment area to actively filter the air within the work area. Once these engineering controls were established clean up of the debris began.

All non-cloth surfaces were wet wiped with clean rags prior to being vacuumed with a HEPA equipped vacuum. Walls, tables and floors are examples of surfaces cleaned in this fashion. Cloth surfaces were cleaned using the HEPA equipped vacuum. These surfaces include carpeted floors and upholstered chairs, which were to be salvaged. When the clean up was complete, the industrial hygienist conducted a ■

visual inspection. Air samples were collected, and once clearance levels were obtained the engineering ■ controls and barriers were removed.
