SUBJ : World Trade Center Programs
In February 2007, Mayor Bloomberg accepted all 15 comprehensive recommendations in Addressing the Health Impacts of 9/1 J, a report he commissioned from a special panel to help New York City “take care of its own.”
The panel recommended that all City employees who were exposed to the World Trade Center (WTC) collapse be given excused absences for an initial evaluation or screening at an approved program.
City employees now can take advantage of this evaluation or screening by making an appointment at one of the following programs, depending on the eligibility criteria:
•World Trade Center (WTC) Environmental Health Center at Bellevue 877-982-0107
This program is open to any City employee who was exposed to WTC dust or fumes and is experiencing physical or mental health symptoms that may be related to this exposure. This includes employees who were living or working in lower Manhattan and some areas of Brooklyn.
Note: The Bellevue WTC Environmental Health Center is NOT a screening program. It treats only patients who have developed health problems, which may include breathing problems or other WTC- related symptoms.
