2.2 EXCLUSION ZONE

The Exclusion Zone is the area of greatest potential for worker exposure to chemical and physical agents or hazards. Snowfence, orange highway cones, appropriate signage, or a combination of all three will be used to demarcate this area. Access to the exclusion zone will be controlled and only workers wearing appropriate PPE will be permitted entry. The Exclusion Zones are shown in Figure 1, and generally consist of the debris storage areas and the areas containing the sifting/sorting operations and Building 7 operations. Personnel exiting the exclusion zone will be generally allowed to exit the area in their PPE except for the following conditions:

Personnel going to the mess area. Personnel leaving the site. Personnel going into one of the onsite trailers, buildings, or tents.

Upon exiting the exclusion zone for one of the above conditions, personnel shall proceed to the personal hygiene station for cleanup.

2.3 PERSONAL HYGIENE STATION

Personal hygiene stations (PHS) have been established adjacent to the work area to promote good worker hygiene practices. This area has been provided by a joint effort by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). Personnel should be directed to the PHS following work in the exclusion zone. Access to the mess area is through the PHS. Additionally, three hand-wash stations have been provided temporarily by the National Guard. These hand wash stations are adjacent to the mess area.

2.4 NON-REGULATED AREAS

Other areas of the landfill property are generally described as non-regulated areas. This designation has been given to areas (where respirators and protective clothing are not required) that are not included in the exclusion zone. It is understood that the minimum PPE described in Section
