HOW DO I APPLY FOR OR RECEIVE THE SERVICE?
To report emergencies or complaints to the Help Center, please be ready to provide the
following information:
• Type of complaint (air, noise, hazardous waste, spills, asbestos, chemical fires, etc.)
• Exact address, with cross street
• Nature of the emergency
• Your name, address and phone number
HOW LONG SHOULD THIS TAKE?
DEP responds immediately to incidents involving hazardous materials (chemical fires,
asbestos, spills etc.,). DEP responds to emergencies and complaints of varying
complexity. Problems may be as simple as an odor complaint or as complex as a
chemical spill.
The certification of asbestos industry personnel takes approximately six weeks from the
date of filing. The process involves filing an application, passing an exam given by DEP
and issuing laminated identification cards.
