Albany, NY — 9/19/01 — The New York State Department of Public Service staff has scheduled a public forum to explain the administrative review process for examining a proposal by KeySpan Energy Development Corporation (KeySpan) to construct and operate a 250-megawatt (MW) combined-cycle natural gas-fired electric generating plant — the “Spagnoli Road Energy Center” - in the Town of ington, Suffolk County. The forum will provide interested members of the public an opportunity to ask questions and team about the New York State Board on Electric Generalirai Siting and the EnvircSEIant (Siting Board) process for conducting formal public reviews of electric gen«ation proposals of at least 80 megawatts under Article X of the New York State Public Service Law. The State Department of Environmental Conservation’s federally d^gated air and water permitting processes also will be discussed at the forum.
Under Article X of the State Public Service Law, KeySpan Is required to file an application with die Siting Board to obtain a Certificate of Envi antal Compatibility and Public Need in order to construct the proposed feciiity.
