REMAINING EXTERIOR RESIDENTIAL CLEANUP WORK UNDERWAY

I (June 8, 2002) The cleanup of residual dust and debris I from building rooftops, facades and canopies is under I way. The work, being done by New York City SI < I Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) I contractors, follows a visual survey of approximately 400 buildings surrounding the World Trade Center I (WTC) site. Of these, some 250 were found to have jjggt gpjj dsbris nccding removal. The owners of 20 percent of these buildings agreed to do the cleaning themselves, leaving about 200 buildings for the city to clean. The work is being done to prevent resuspension of WTC dust in the air. Fact Sheet
