Summary of Proposed Activities for Indoor Air Task Force Consensus Reached On:

1. Creating a Permanent Information Clearinghouse (Communication Task Force) including: • Detailed cleaning procedures - (requires development) • Database of NYCDEP’s inspection program results (database requires development) • Representatives from all involved agencies

2. Continuing NYCDEP’s Phase 2 Inspection Program - Issues: • Should some rooftop samples be evaluated for ACM? • Balconies are not being cleaned

F urther Discussion Needed On:

1. Establishing a Scientific Panel to Determine Approach for Addressing Issue • Could make recommendations for dealing with entire matter or could be requested to explore discrete issues, such as • duration of cleaning in residence • relationship between dust findings and air risk • likelihood of recontamination from uncleaned to cleaned areas

2. Following-up on NYCDOH/ATSDR Study by resampling at indoor locations with asbestos bulk dust and fibrous glass above non-detect levels. Resampling would occur post cleaning. • Examine sampling plan for expanded use

3. Following-up with Recalcitrant Building Owners to Ensure Cleaning of Dust When Results are Less than 1% ACM Suggestions: • NYC Mayor’s Office’s works with NYCDOH to regulate dust as a public health nuisance • NYCDOH Commissioner issues an Order requiring cleaning

4. Providing Sampling to Individuals When Requested (Requires development of consensus sampling protocol)

5. Providing Cleaning Resources When Requested

6. Defining Public Health Risk for Indoor Asbestos ans Fibrous Glass • Complete a risk assessment for both dust and air asbestos results • Establish fibrous glass levels of concern
