Memorandum To: Rob Harding, Tony Carbonelti From: Pat Scott Date: May 2, 2001 Re: Memorial Monday, May 28 SPiDhRMAN day shoot in 'Times Square; Street cranes
This holiday weekend is customarily the best low traffic weekend for big action scenes to get done with minimal impact. This scene is the landscape (or a major sequence created with visual effects, It consists of moving shots from an aerial camera suspended on cabling between two large industrial cranes. One crane would he located on the west side al Seventh Avenue at 47th Street and cabled to the second crane placed on 45th Street at Broadway. The camera rig is remote controlled by computer.
The cranes would be placed alter 6 p.m., Sunday night, May 27, 1roadway would he diverted above 471h by traffic agents for one hour while the cable is rigged between the two cranes, between 9 and 10 pm. Later Sunday night, the camera rig would he assembled on the cable. Eleven Traffic agents would assist PD Movie &7'V officers.
Marriot Marquis Hotel taxi drops and pick-ups would approach the Hotel from 8 11 avenue via 46"' Street and depart via 45`11 to the west. The hotel Manager is okay with this. The Imperial theater on 45th Street near 8th (Les Miz) has an K p.m. on Monday and we can get their audience in and out from 8th Avenue.
Turing camera rolls. on Monday May 28 daytime, each lasting for two traffic light changes, Broadway traffic would be held, or diverted with 16 traffic agents assisting the Movie & TV Police.. When camera is between shots (most of the time), Broadway would flow unimpeded.
The sirs; of the industrial cranes requires closing 45th between Broadway &. 8"h from Sunday night at 6 p and all day Monday the 28i11. The second crane at 47' ' and 7i11 has been cleared by M'fA for weight, and will take three of the five southbound Seventh Avenue lanes. The cranes are supervised by licensed master riggers, in addition to the special film riggers to operate these cable run camera rigs. The dc-rigging of the cable and the removal of the cranes would take place overnight Monday.
The shots will give bird's eye views of Spidcrman's trajectories in a haute with the Green Ciohlin, however the live actors are not present in these shots. Much of the live action to he added to this work has already been filmed in'California, and the production is anxious to get our answer on this request as quickly as possible. Amity thanks for your assistance,
