Restaurant Inspection Website: The Department has been developing a website that will allow the Department and the general public to search for restaurants by geographic area and view a summary that lists the name of the establishment and owner as well as information on recent inspections.

Restaurant Inspection Handheld Computer Project: The Department has been working with a vendor to develop a software application for use in a handheld computer project. These handheld computers will improve restaurant inspector productivity by streamlining the restaurant inspection process. In Calendar 2000, the Department will fully implement this initiative by providing handheld computers to all inspectors performing food service inspections.

Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System: The Department has begun the use of IVR for birth and death certificate applications and corrections, complaints, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases information and requesting public health literature.
