Alessandra Sumowicz PII Director Mayor's Office of Environmental Coordination 100 Gold Street- Room 2601 New York, NY 10038
Dear Ms. Sumowicz,
It was a pleasure speaking with you yesterday at the NYC Agency Counsel Luncheon at New York Law School about the summer opportunities at the Office of Environmental Coordination. As a first year student at New York Law School, I learned of the summer position through Adjua Starks, Associate Director of Career Services.
The potential to work in the Office of Environmental Coordination would avail me the chance to mingle my undergraduate biology experience with my legal education. The interest in environmental issues began while working as Research Assistant in Marine Biology. I had the opportunity to conduct feeding experiments of a species of crab at the National Marine Fishery Center, a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association in Milford, CT. I clearly remembered that a local sewer treatment plant was a significant factor in determining the dietary preferences of these crabs. In addition to the research, I have taken undergraduate classes such as Environmental Ethics and Ecology, which have broadened my knowledge and interest in environmental concerns.
At New York Law School, I am involved in a number of extracurricular activities, which have strengthened my analytical, interpersonal and time management skills. At the same time, I have maintained a strong focus on my academia. New York Law School has awarded me an Academic Scholarship in recognition of my past accomplishments.
I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you to discuss the summer intern position. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Chaun Pflug
