The EPA seems to be taking the lead on assessing health risks to the general public. They are conducting daily. monitoring and have issued summary statements.
Statements:
"EPA's air monitoring near the WTC has not detected any pollutants from the fire and building collapses that are of concern to the general public." (9/18). "EPA and OSHA have taken hundreds of samples to monitor environmental conditions since September 11 and have found no evidence of any significant public health hazard to residences, visitor or workers beyond the immediate WTC area."
