Congeners in water samples were also found, also with no locations or detect status. No PCB Congener
data was available for bulk dust or air samples.
PCBs-Totals in dust wipe samples were reported for four (4) samples at three (3) locations, including
Manahattan Community College (two (2) samples on Sept 28), PS 234-Chambers & Greenwich St (Sept
29), and Stuyvesant High School (Sept 28). In all four of these samples, PCBs-Totals were not detected
at 0 ng/100 cm2 or <5 ng/100 cm2.
To date, PCBs-Totals in air samples were reported for twelve (12) Lower Manhattan locations on
nine (9) sampling dates. Results have been recorded in the database for samples taken up to October
26'. Detected values were reported in six (6) of the twelve (12) sites, as listed in Table 13 and
illustrated in Figure 8. PCBs-Totals in air were not detected at Location E - Liberty & South End Ave,
Location F-Vesey & West St, Location P - Albany & South End Ave, Location R - EPA TAGA Bus, and
Location S - Rector Pl & South End Ave.
The WTC - Building 5 SW and Location A - Barclay & West Broadway sites had the highest PCBs-
Totals in air results. The highest reported value was 153 ng/m3 on October 2nd at the WTC Building 5
SW site. For these two (2) sites, the correlation coefficient is low at 0.0351, indicating different patterns
of change. Comparison of the results from the Location B - Church & Dey St and WTC - Building 5 SW
sites through October 15th reveals a correlation coefficient of 0.8690.
The linear fit lines in Figure 9 indicates a steady decrease in Total PCBs at the WTC Building 5 SW,
Location B, and Location A sites. At all of the sites, except WTC-Building 5 SW, the most recent
results from October 15th, 18th, and 26th are all zero (0) or undetected.
