Dear Jeff;

Enclosed you will find the hard copies of the analytical performed on samples gathered on 10-29-01. Two sets of samples were gathered; one indoor at the back end of the front counter and one outdoor, just outside the front door. Winds were from the west during the test period and there was a noticeable odor in the air with ash precipitating from above. Testing was performed for the normal parameters of asbestos, lead and particulate, but also included the following parameters based upon reported potential contaminants: copper, chromium, PCB's and PAH's (polyaromatic hydrocarbons). Analysis showed very slight elevated levels of fibers (.011 and .014). These levels were consistent with past tests. All three metals; lead, copper and chromium were at levels of <1 parts per billion, or essentially at non-detect levels. Particulate detection levels were listed as <4.2 PPM which is still well below standards of 15 PPM (parts per million). The high detection levels ware a result of the airborne ash. PCB's or various forms of arochlor are used to enhance oil viscosity. In general, they are no longer being used, however, many old transformers still contain a coolant lubricant combination of oils and PCB. This contaminant is an issue because of the possibility of some transformers within the ground zero zone containing PCB's. Test results show that there are no levels of PCB's within or outside your location. The final contaminant of concern is PAH (polyaromatic hydrocarbons). This contaminant is the direct result of petroleum products combustion. This includes diesel, gasoline, fuel oil, kerosene, jet fuel and petroleum byproducts. Tests of PAH's both within and outside were reported at levels of <5 parts per million, which essentially means that the constituents were well below detection levels.
