Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).
I The purpose of this initial air sampling survey was to determine the impact, if any, of the ambient
outdoor air at, and near Ground Zero, upon the interior air inside CCC's five buildings that are all
I situated in close proximity to Ground Zero. The specifically-selected air tests that have been
completed thus far have included testing for asbestos, both the volatile and semi-volatile classes
I of organic chemical compounds, dust particulates, mercury, PCBs, lead, and carbon monoxide.

On Sunday, November 18, 2001, CA RICH mobilized three OSHA-trained air sampling crews to
collect exterior ambient air samples from both ground level and a rooftop location at 45 John
I Street, and also from the southwest corner of the rooftop at 11 John Street. The sampling crews
also collected two interior air quality sampling sets from each of the five Properties included in
I this Survey. The interior building samples were purposely collected from a public common space
within the ground floor lobby or front entry foyer/hallway area of each building, as well as an
additional selected common space on an upper floor (e.g. elevator landing, stairwell, etc.).
Photographs illustrating four of these sampling locations are included in this Report.
All of the air samples collected during the Survey for chemical analyses were labeled with an
identifying label and the information was recorded on sample log forms. The samples were then
I packaged in laboratory-issued sampling containers and delivered via overnight courier, under
chain-of-custody control measures, to ELAP-Certified Galson Laboratories in East Syracuse, NY
- with the sole exception of the asbestos samples. The asbestos samples, also packaged in lab-
I issued sample containers, were delivered via overnight courier, under chain-of-custody control
measures, to ELAP-Certified EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Carle Place, NY. All required blanks were
I collected according to the requirements of each methodology. Carbon Monoxide was monitored
and recorded on real time detector instrumentation throughout the Survey.
A copy of the laboratory results is included in Appendix A. A copy of the original laboratory report
from Galson Laboratories is included as Appendix B. A copy of the original asbestos laboratory
I report from EMSL Laboratories is attached as Appendix C.
