Re: Cleaning of Buildings, 182 Broadway & 2 John St. 8-04-2002
Dear Mr. Radhakrishnan,
On Sunday, August 4, 2002, you had a contractor cleaning the building I
occupy as a BURGER KING restaurant. Richard Marcus of Gotham Estates is
the Owners representative.
Your contractor used a fire hydrant for water that was defective. One of
the owners of the contractor, Louie Jr., as well as a DEP representative saw the
water that inundated my Burger King restaurant. According to Mr. Marcus, the
hydrant used was known to be defective. The contractor told me that he did not
know that the hydrant was bad. Throughout the day, water came through my
foundation wall and flooded my basement. My Burger King is located in the
basement and sub-basement of the building known as 2 John Street. The
address of my restaurant is 182 Broadway. At some time in the afternoon, Louie
reconnected his equipment to another hydrant. The water stopped leaking
through my foundation wall at this time.
My plumber, A&L Plumbing came to the restaurant on Sunday to establish
where the water was coming from, and then to pump it out. I want to be
reimbursed for this cost and and my labor costs to cleanup the water. I have
been told that there was also some damage done to a sheetrock wall in the sub-
basement. Please contact me and let me know where I should send this invoice
(when I receive it) for reimbursement.
Very truly yours,
Peter Abramson
