RE: Asbestos Condition at 150 Franklin Street, NY, NY 10013
Building Owner. 150 Franklin Street Cooperative Inc.
Dear Department of Environmental Protection,
This letter is a formal notification of a complaint with regards to a high level of asbestos
contamination at 150 Franklin Street Cooperative Inc. which were tested with results of
1.2%,1.4% & 1.6% . Proper asbestos abatement methods as required by law and
regulation whenever asbestos exceeds 1% - especially in cases of an educational
institutional presence.
We require immediate action due to the fact that there is a operating Day Care Center
present on the third floor. We demand that DEP ensure that any construction work on the
roof including but not limited the building of a bulkhead be stopped. Work is scheduled
has begun today by the General Contractor: Grand Renovation, Inc.
Asbestos had been found to have contaminated the seven floor as asbestos tainted tar
penetrated through the roof approximately two years ago.
These samples were analyzed by: EMSL Analytical, Inc. 307 West 386 Street NY NY 10018 -
EMSL Order 030204912 analysis date 4/16/02.
