'Re: 80-82 Wall Street Ambient Project 0211366
Dear Mrs.. Elman
The following is a summary of the indoor environmental quality survey that Ambient Group, Inc. performed on September 18'", 2001 at the above referenced location. The survey included sampling for airborne and settled dust characterization, as well as air monitoring for TEM analysis.
Four (4) air samples were collected from various locations on the 12t', 8th, 4t" and 2nd floors and analyzed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) for asbestos structures. The results of the analysis indicated that airborne asbestos levels at the time of testing were less than the analytical sensitivity of the instrument, as well as well below the EPA standard of 70 structures/mm2 and other recommended industry guidelines and/or regulations.
Four (4) settled dust and four (4) air samples were collected for characterization analysis from various locations on the 12°i, 8s'I 4th and 2nd floors. The samples were composed primarily of carbon particles, cement and/or gravel road dust. No asbestos was detected in the eight (8) samples collected. Many of these elements identified in the samples are commonly found in an indoor environment and should not pose any adverse health concerns to the building occupants.
It should be noted that skin fragments, which were also identified in the samples, consist primarily of dead epithelial cells which are constantly shed by humans and are present as a result of the building occupants. Likewise, decayed organic matter typically includes decaying plant material and food particles, and it is not uncommon to find these materials in samples collected from within commercial office buildings.
Attached please find copies of the laboratory reports for further details. Should you have any questions regarding this information, please feel free to call me.
Sincerely, Signed for Ambient Gro nc. by:
